I thought I was hearing things but I played it back and confirmed- this scarlet has SIX count them, six verses of soloing during the first solo break- they do not set the world on fire (no pun intended) but it is an agile thing for Jer to attempt-

I have heard plenty 4 and 5 verse solos- this is the first six verse one....any of my fellow geeks care to point out any others?

Edit- Now the Fire that comes out of that Scarlet is outstanding

Hey Liam

Can you post an archive link. I know that sounds real lazy but if the link is there I can just get to it quicker. Sorry if that's over top. I am going to track this one down but usually if there was something else on the board with a link I would probably do that first and by the time i listened to that I would forgot about your post.

I don't see 10-9-81, either here or in Deadbase.

Seems like Jerry solos forever on 2-3-79, but I've never counted the number of verses. Anyway, this is one the all time Scarlet-Fires. Gordon Sharpless has a nice review in the Tapers Compendium- calls it national Scarlet Begonias Day or something like that.

11-30-79 S>F has an extended solo BEFORE the "Ain't often right..." and another shorter one after "let her pass by".

Robony:
nice find...the change in arrangement contributed to 5 great instrumental verses before the chorus, but not much left over for the 2 before the last vocal verse...the S>F transition is cool too

Liam:
sure would like to know what your phantom Scarlet is (???)

this one goes 6 rounds of between the verses instru-mental activity and definitely weighs in as heavy
